Students who are dually identified as English learners and as students with disabilities bring immense personal, linguistic, and cultural resources to our classrooms. However, our siloed school system was never created with dually identified students in mind. At Dual Promise, we share nuanced teaching practices with teachers to create powerful learning opportunities for all students, including dually identified students.
Dr. Jamey Burho holds a Ph.D. in Special Education and has experience as a special education teacher, researcher, Fulbright Fellow, and Quality Teaching for English Learners (QTEL) facilitator. She has dedicated her career to understanding collaborative teaching and the intersection of language development and special education. Dual Promise is the culmination of this work, empowering educators and ensuring the success of dually identified students.
I offer customized professional development, co-teaching workshops, personalized one-on-one coaching, collaborative team coaching, lesson plans and other curricular materials, and data-driven program reviews with recommendations for optimization. All services are grounded in an asset-oriented approach that draws from Universal Design for Learning, Quality Teaching and Learning for English learners, and Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Teaching.
